Istanbul Bosphorus tanker rescued with malfunctioning rudder

ISTANBUL – A tanker named Nazan, sailing from Russia to Kocaeli, had a rudder malfunction near Kandili in the Istanbul Bosphorus. The tanker was rescued by the tugboats on site and towed to the Ahırkapı Safe Harbor.

The announcement made from the social media account of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety stated that the tanker named NAZAN, under the coordination of our Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center; with the assistance of our pilot captain and our SALVAGE-7 tugboat, was safely moored in the Ahırkapı Safe Harbor with the help of our SALVAGE-9 tugboat. The temporary suspension of the Istanbul Bosphorus ship traffic in both directions is planned to be opened south-north direction at 00.50.”.
